Description
The Weldy WGW 300 is an automatic hot wedge welding machine for thermoplastic geomembranes. A heated copper wedge runs between the overlapping sheets, and pressure rollers fuse the two layers into a permanent dual-track seam as the machine drives along the overlap.
It is designed to be simple and robust, with logically arranged controls, a durable drive and three large rollers that keep it stable on uneven ground. The WGW 300 welds HDPE geomembranes from 0.8 to 2.5 mm, as well as LDPE, LLDPE, TPO, FPO, CSPE and PP. That covers the liners used in landfills, mines, reservoirs, ponds, irrigation systems and fish farms.
Key Features and Benefits
Dual-track seam with test channel
The 2 × 12 mm weld seam has a channel between the two tracks, created by the copper wedge with test channel. The finished seam can be checked by testing the channel, which is a key quality step on lining projects.
Pressure and overlap for heavier membranes
Up to 1400 N of welding pressure and a maximum overlap of 150 mm suit the thicker, stiffer membranes common in containment work, up to 2.5 mm.
Controlled speed and temperature
Welding speed is adjustable up to 8.5 m/min, with the wedge operating at 450 °C. A display and direct controls give the operator a clear view of the process.
Stable in demanding terrain
Three large rollers and durable drive rollers with strong grip keep the machine tracking on uneven ground. The machine is equipped with a Field-Kit for outdoor work, and an Indoor-Kit is recommended for pre-assembly indoors.
Applications and Use Cases
Applications for the WGW 300 include:
- Landfill and mining membrane welding: containment liners and caps.
- Reservoirs and canals waterproofing: lining of water storage and conveyance structures.
- Pond waterproofing: lined ponds and basins.
- Aquaculture construction and repair: fish farm ponds and tanks.
- Foundation waterproofing: membrane protection below structures.

Frequently Asked Questions
What membrane thickness can the WGW 300 weld?
The WGW 300 welds geomembranes from 0.8 to 2.5 mm, including HDPE in that range. The achievable thickness depends on the material type and its properties.
Which WGW 300 version suits UAE site power?
The 230 V version, article 802.235. It is fitted with a blue CEE 16 A industrial connector.
How does the WGW 300 compare with the Weldy miniwelder geo2?
Both are hot wedge geomembrane welders that produce a 2 × 12 mm seam. The WGW 300 is the heavier-duty machine: 1750 W and 15 kg, for membranes from 0.8 to 2.5 mm. The miniwelder geo2 is a lighter 800 W, 3.9 kg machine for membranes from 0.5 to 1.5 mm.
